Donate · the Quiet Hearth Appeal & the general fund
Give to a charity where every pound stays inside one Cheshire parish.
We are a small, slow, in-parish trust. No paid staff, no marketing, no overhead beyond postage and a ream of paper. The figure you give below will be received by the trustees, written into the ledger, and distributed to a household in Farndon at the next quarterly meeting.
The Quiet Hearth Appeal · open until 23 December 2026
Sixteen households on the parish list this winter.
This year's Advent appeal tops up our historic Coal & Bread Fund. Each gift goes towards a £100 fuel voucher and a small food allowance for an older Farndon householder. Our list has sixteen households on it this December; nine are already covered by gifts from village neighbours, three by a long-time donor's bequest, four still to find.

Other ways to give
By bank transfer, by cheque, or in person.
Bank transfer — the trustees' preferred route. Please contact the Honorary Clerk at [email protected] for current bank details and a payment reference; we ask for this contact step to keep the account secure.
By cheque — made payable to ‘Farndon Charities’ and posted to the Honorary Clerk at 6 Plover Close, Farndon, Chester, CH3 6RG. Please include a short note with your name and the fund you would like to support; we will write back with a Gift Aid form if needed.
In person — at the Harvest collection at St Chad's in September, or the Advent Coffee Morning & Carols at the Memorial Hall in early December. Cash and contactless both accepted.
Gift Aid & Legacies
A few small administrative notes.
Gift Aid — we are a registered charity (no. 219005) and can reclaim 25p in basic-rate tax for every pound you give, at no cost to you, provided you are a UK taxpayer. The declaration is on the form above and on the back of our paper response slip.
Legacies — many of our funds began as a parish legacy. If you are considering including Farndon Charities in your will, our standard wording is: ‘I give to Farndon Charities (registered charity number 219005), of 6 Plover Close, Farndon, Chester, CH3 6RG, the sum of £___ free of all taxes for its general charitable purposes within the parish of Farndon.’ We are very glad to talk with you and, if you wish, your solicitor.
Standing orders — some of our most patient donors give £5 or £10 a month by standing order. This is, candidly, our favourite form of gift; it lets the trustees plan with confidence. Ask the Clerk for a form by post.
